RED 2012 A Party With a Purpose
Following the success of ParkFest 2011, RED 2012 will take place on 25th August 2012 and will be a community Music and Art Festival to raise awareness of the A.V.S Project. Park Fest! 4 AVS combined our two main activities outlined below, and provided the opportunity for a broad range of community organisations to demonstrate their creative talents, while at the same time celebrating diversity and promoting community cohesion.
RED 2012 will follow in the same vein as ParkFest! and will use the festival as a vehicle to disseminate information packs, to raise awareness and increase public understanding of the long term effects of such abuse; trained counselors will be on site to inform individuals of help provided and help individuals to identify causes and effects of abuse in the wider society. We are also seeking to recruit volunteers, who would subsequently be trained to participate in this project.
Having recognized that Sundon Park has very few community events that the whole family can enjoy, this event has been endorsed by key organisations in Sundon Park.
This combination of a community event to support a project that has been designed and implemented by victims of abuse from the Sundon Park area, seeks to tighten the bonds within this community and provides a significant opportunity for these victims of abuse to bring in a visible and direct focal manner public attention to their cause.
RED 2012 has emerged from the AVS "In the light" project and propels those who have been regarded as victims from a position of hidden, isolation, cut off from normal community activity, onto a platform which states to the world "we are members of society entitled to enjoy and celebrate with our community with pride despite our past suffering"
Participation in such an open event is a vital step towards recovery of confidence, elimination of "fear" and building trust with ordinary members of the public. |

Nine Red Presents....(CIC), is a social enterprise, operating in a business environment for a socially useful purpose. This means that we serve the' community' for the good of the ' community', with all profits flowing back into Community Projects.
NINE RED Presents...(cic) uses performing arts and exhibitions to communicate its core message to the widest possible audience nationally. "That each individual in society, irrespective of race, ethnic origin, gender, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, creed, disability, age, religion or political belief has the right to be and to provide; inspiration, motivation and achieve emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well being."
To meet these aims we have two main projects
A.V.S PROJECT
Abuse Victim Support Project, is a multi-stranded project consisting of one on one counselling and using arts and dance as therapy. 1. AVS Counselling serves to provide a holistic package of emotional and practical support to those dealing with domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape; whether it is happening now or has happened in the past. We provide immediate and free one to one counselling for individuals, in safe and secure surrounding. 2. AVS "In the light" project was designed by victims of abuse and works in tandem with our A.V.S. Counselling project, it is two tiered:- 1. Uses the Arts as part of the therapy and healing process, encourages abuse victims to participate in various art forms as a means of recovery and coming to terms with the devastating and long term effects that abuse has on its victims. 2. Raise awareness of the issue in the community by participating in art & cultural events, with the view to increase public understanding of the long term effects of such abuse, inform individuals of help provided and help individuals to identify causes and effects of abuse in the wider society. One of the purposes of this project is to provide information as a preventative aim, to break the vicious cycle of abuse which is multi-generational, when left without intervention.
